Submissive wives

Does anyone else think that being a submissive wife according to the bible just displays their ignorance and gullibility? Check out this submissive wife forum. The mind boggles. I find it terribly degrading to women in general and feel that these gullible women are really letting the side down.

I'd say these christian women have the complete catholic religious Madonna mission in mind. I have heard there's something in the bible about whole households being saved even if they are not the best christians if the wife and mother is praying enough and devoted enough to god.

Living in the U.S. Southern Baptist Bible Belt, my wife and I and have gone to many Southern Baptist weddings.

We were always puzzeled why they made such a big deal in the wedding that the wife had be submissive and obey the husband.

My wife and I have been married 39 years and we have been thru good, bad, and sickness, and we have always looked at each other as equals.

This is why former President Jimmy Carter had to leave the Southern Baptist because he felt that his wife, Roslynn, was not getting a fair deal.

I feel sorry for the Southern Baptist if all they think about is putting down their women.

Is not this called being a slave ?

Do you want to be a slave in a married life ?

What does being submissive have to do with religion, anyway ?

They should say to he man, make sure you work and support your family, because a lot of men do not.

i think those women who are submissive in the name of God, are the most brainwashed of all religious believers. if someone puts up with, or worse smilingly accepts it as right, another human being hailed as better than her, having the right to tell her what to do, humiliate, abuse, and enslave her - then she is a fool.

no doubt, many submissive wives (if they read this) will come in and argue, and defend their lifestyle - but their argument is just a symptom of the brainwashing, in my opinion.

God (if he ever existed) did not appoint man as the superior and woman as the inferior. and i'm damn sure he didn't make a commandment about divorce, as mentioned in one of the replies on that site. what next? God says it's a sin to use a washing machine? but it's ok to play on your Wii???


sorry... my bullshit meter has gone into overdrive. and the shame of it all is.... women will continue to live this way, and teach their daughters it's the 'right' way.

Soleclip and Minx have nailed it, here. These super christians are a cult. Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter saw how the wind was blowing with religious extremists in the Southern Baptist church (and in America in general), so they went elsewhere. We have more in common with the Wahiro tribe in Venezuela or the Dogon people in Mali than we do with extremists who want christian rule for the world - and these christian extremists DO want that. Osama Bin Laden wants women wearing a burka as they plow a field walking barefoot in dung behind a donkey.

If Lucy's find were a wives of old tyme islam board, it would still be sad, but we'd "get" radical islam saying that. But it's a christian board. I know a lot of christians who would tell this board it's wrong to use the faith to justify their cult mentality, though.

What irks me is that they are basically flying in the face of all the work people who have come before have done to give women their right's.

And there's always an answer to these gullible women to keep them in the cult - for instance, if any of what we said on this thread were beginning to give doubts to a submissive wife, the cult would just tell her to ignore us because 'Satan' is using us to sway her from God. They are trapped in their gullibility.
